Ilim Group, one of the greatest russian players, invests in high technology by Celmacch and Asahi

2077

Ilim Group is undoubtedly one of the leading companies in the Russian market, leader in paper production and cardboard converting. In May 2018, Ilim invested in a very high productivity line, relying on Celmacch Group for high definition flexo printing and Asahi for flat die cutting. The installed line represents an important strategic asset, created by the combination of two qualified and innovative technologies, Celmacch and Asahi, with the aim of achieving high growth in the high quality packaging market.

Ilim Group was established in October 2007 thanks to a 50% joint venture between International Paper and Ilim Holding and it represents the most important alliance between a Russian and an American company in the paper sector. Ilim Group owns the largest pulp and paper mills in Russia with facilities in Koryazhma, Bratsk and Yst-Ilimsk. It alsomanages the wood production chain that constitutes the raw material, as well as two corrugated cardboard production factories in Leningrad and Moscow regions. The Group exceeds 3 million tons of cellulose and paper annual production and it is strongly affirming itself among the most prestigious Russian companies in the cardboard sector. The strategy of the joint venture is focused on increasing value-added production, such as office papers, packaging and cellulose, for which Ilim Group already holds a significant position in Russia and China. It is a remarkable fact, therefore, that the technological strategy of a group in such strong expansion directed its choice on flexographic printing by Celmacch Group and die cutting by Asahi, to create a high precision line.
Celmacch supplied a high definition Chroma EVO 1700 line, with HBL fixed group configuration and a maximum format of 1700. Celmacch’s printing machine uses Siemens direct motor technology and each shaft is driven by an independent Siemens motor. The anilox cylinder changing system allows Ilim to benefit from a wide selection of anilox rolls, to produce a wide range of products. Celmacch’s HBL configuration and high technology ensure a very high level of automation and job changes time is much reduced.
The line uses a telescopic aspirated transfer that allows the connection of the Celmacch printing machine with the Asahi die-cutter. This transfer was specifically designed to work with the latest versions of LAP Feeder produced by Asahi.
The line is perfectly interconnected so as to allow Ilim to work with maximum efficiency. Asahi supplied the AP-165EⅡ EⅢ model which has a format of 1650 x 1200 mm and a maximum speed of 6,000 strokes/hour, with an excellent cutting precision.
This line ordered by Ilim Group was specifically designed to offer maximum performance, quick start-up and ensured quality, with the highest criteria of robustness.
Celmacch is ready to deliver a second line to a very successful Russian multinational company, which will be installed again in line with the latest generation Asahi die-cutter. We can state that technological excellence and innovation tendency are always rewarding factors.
