From design to the smart label: Mark Andy and Talkin’ Things Invite to “Smart Labels: RFID Technology Workshop” in Warsaw

6

RFID technology is increasingly becoming an integral part of label and packaging production. The growing importance of product traceability, the need for greater supply chain transparency, brand protection, and regulatory requirements (including initiatives related to the Digital Product Passport) mean that smart labels are now one of the key development directions for the industry. In response to these changes, Mark Andy, in cooperation with Talkin’ Things, is organizing a dedicated RFID technology workshop. The program covers the entire process of creating a smart label, from design to production with flexo printing. The event will take place on 12 March 2026 at the Mark Andy European Technology Center in Warsaw. Those interested in attending the workshop are invited to register via the dedicated event website: https://www.markandy.com/smart-labels-rfid-technology-workshop-mark-andy-talkin-things/

RFID – from concept to production
Although RFID has been discussed for years as a “technology of the future,” the pace of its implementation is clearly accelerating. Smart labels are increasingly used for applications such as supply chain tracking, anti-counterfeiting, logistics process automation, and new forms of consumer engagement. For label converters and brand owners, the key question is no longer “if,” but “how” to integrate RFID into existing production processes in an effective and cost-efficient way.
The workshop will focus precisely on this practical aspect, showing how RFID technology can be implemented in an industrial environment and become a natural part of label production, without compromising productivity or print quality.

Technology, know-how and demonstrations at two locations
During the event, Mark Andy specialists will demonstrate the production of RFID labels on an Evolution Series E5 flexographic press, showing how smart labels can be produced within standard printing workflows. However, the workshop program goes beyond the printing process itself and also includes key production preparation stages that directly impact quality, stability, and repeatability. Combined with a presentation on design and production of advanced RFID tags prepared by Talkin’ Things, the workshop offers a comprehensive view of smart labeling technology, from concept and production to a finished RFID label. With a modern manufacturing facility in Warsaw and a fast-growing engineering center in Rzeszow, Talkin’ Things offers production capacity reaching hundreds of millions of RFID tags per year. By combining development and manufacturing operations in Poland, the company is able to efficiently serve international markets while maintaining high flexibility and quality control.

Knowledge exchange and a glance into the future
An integral part of the workshop will be expert presentations and an open discussion involving representatives of Mark Andy and Talkin’ Things, focusing on the future of RFID, key market trends, and regulatory challenges. This format encourages direct knowledge exchange between participants and allows smart labels to be viewed not only as a technological solution, but also as part of a long-term business development strategy.
The workshop is aimed at label converters and printers looking for practical and scalable ways to implement RFID technology in their production processes. Another important group of potential participants includes brand owners and packaging professionals interested in smart labels as tools supporting product traceability, brand protection, and more effective market communication. The event will also be valuable for professionals responsible for supply chain and logistics, for whom RFID is becoming an important element of process automation and transparency. The event s open to all industry professionals who want to better understand the practical applications of smart labeling technology and its impact on the future of the label and packaging market.

Lena Chmielewska-Bontron, European Marketing Manager at Mark Andy, says:
“the RFID workshop has a truly European scope and is aimed at professionals from different markets who want to take a comprehensive look at RFID technology, from design and production, through the printing process, to real market applications. Our cooperation with Talkin’ Things enables presenting a full range of competencies in this area and show how different elements of RFID technology complement each other. At the same time, this event is a natural continuation of Mark Andy’s long-standing activities in this field, including the development of technological solutions as well as educational initiatives such as previous workshops and a series of RFID-focused publications. We want to share knowledge and experience that help our customers prepare in an informed way for the next stages of development in the label and packaging market”.
