Mark Andy, one of the largest and longest-operating global manufacturers of label and package printing presses, continues to expand its portfolio with new solutions tailored to evolving market demands and the growth potential of its customers.
The latest additions include the Digital Series HD HighSpeed 1200 UV inkjet/flexo hybrid press, described by Mark Andy as the fastest UV inkjet hybrid label press on the market, and the Performance Series S9 flexo press, devoted above all to flexible packaging production. Both models are already in use at Mark Andy’s customers worldwide.
Both the Digital Series HD HighSpeed 1200 and the Performance Series S9 presses fit current market and customer needs perfectly. The first, offers uncompromising speed and flexibility in digital production, redefining the move between inkjet and flexo technology. The second, enables flexo printers to optimise costs and restore profitability even with shorter runs. Both solutions impact on increased efficiency and competitiveness. This is possible owing to shorter job turnaround, waste reduction, lower consumable consumption and simplified operation.
Mark Andy not only responds to current market needs but also sets new directions in its development, offering customers technology that supports their. “Looking at today’s dynamic market changes, the future of label and packaging production is full of challenges. But this opens completely new opportunities for printers and converters too. Technological innovations, sustainable development, and matching printer’s equipment set to dynamic needs of the market will be key factors in the future. With Mark Andy you have a choice. Our company offers many flexo and hybrid presses, so we invite you to contact us to choose the most appropriate one for your business”, says Tom Cavalco, Mark Andy Inc Executive Vice President.
Digital Series HD HighSpeed 1200: a gamechanger
The Digital Series HD HighSpeed 1200 sets new market standards in terms of efficiency and quality, as well as changing the crossover point between flexo and inkjet technologies. The press is available in two web width versions, 330 and 430mm, and operates at a maximum speed of 146 m/min. It moves the profitability line between flexo and inkjet printing, mainly in terms of production volumes. Moreover, it can run at full speed using white or invisible ink, e.g. in security printing, as well as applying VDP data in both monochrome and full-colour modes.
As Mark Andy underlines, the inkjet printing module can be installed at any position in the press line, because it uses the proven servo flexo platform of Performance Series. This results in higher flexibility of specific technical configuration for the units installed before and after the inkjet module. As a result, the press is offered in various versions, from basic roll-to-roll to true hybrid. Moreover, a wide range of finishing, decorating and converting options can be applied.
According to Mark Andy, the Digital Series HD HighSpeed 1200 is a market gamechanger for several reasons, and high speed is just one of them, because it redefines the entire calculation of the press’ ROI. In a typical situation, when compared with an investment in the latest model of flexo press, a Digital Series HD HighSpeed 1200 operating at a speed of 73 m/min repays its investment within 56 months, working 2-shift with 75% utilisation. Mark Andy states that by doubling the press speed to 146 m/min, productivity can be increased by up to 46%, which improves the ROI indicator, owing to tripled increase in profitability per job. The company adds that the higher efficiency is also reflected in lower ink consumption, the cost of which is reduced as speed increases. Along with the previously mentioned profitability line between flexo and digital technologies, it is a decisive factor for efficiency as a path to higher profits.
The new flexo press Performance Series S9
Another offering from Mark Andy is the Performance Series S9 flexo press, which is the company’s response to changes in the market. New legal requirements, changes in behaviour and actions of brand owners, consumers, and consequently printers and converters, are extremely important to the company. The Performance Series S9 is dedicated to customers specialising in flexible packaging production who notice, among other things, that volumes are decreasing. For many of them, this means printing on a wider web press has become less profitable. This new solution restores profitability and allows to elevate printers’ businesses to a new level.
Performance Series S9 is based on a proven P9 servo platform. It is available in two web width versions, 558 and 660mm, operates at a maximum speed of 305 m/min, handling substrates ranging from 12 to 450 microns. It features a high degree of automation, which means greater production efficiency, and in turn higher profitability. The simplified and time-saving tooling process is significant for less qualified employees and therefore increases efficiency. Lower waste levels impact on the carbon footprint reduction, which is an important factor for companies committed to sustainability practices.
