In today\u2019s flexible packaging machinery market, the ability to combine mechanical expertise, automation and in-depth process knowledge is becoming an increasingly important differentiating factor for machinery manufacturers. This is the direction taken by TCE Printing<\/strong>, a Turkish company with a European presence in Verona that has been developing technologies for flexographic printing and converting for more than three decades.<\/p>\n

The company has 36 years of experience,<\/strong> a team of around 150 employees <\/strong>and a portfolio comprising more than 100 products.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These figures reflect a well-structured company with an international presence, while maintaining a strong engineering -oriented approach and the ability to develop solutions tailored to the specific needs of converters.<\/p>\n

From printing to converting<\/p>\n

TCE\u2019s portfolio covers a wide range of technologies, with a particular focus on flexographic printing. Its offering starts with the ZEUS CI flexographic presses, <\/strong>designed to meet different production requirements, from applications requiring flexibility and fast job changeovers to high-volume production.<\/p>\n

The ZEUS family includes models with different sizes and configurations, all sharing a focus on register stability, automation, waste reduction and consistent quality even at high speeds.<\/p>\n

NEXTACK<\/strong>, on the other hand, is the range of stack-type flexographic printing machines,<\/strong> available in six- and eight-colour configurations and designed to provide flexibility, fast start-ups and greater integration with digital factory systems.<\/p>\n

TCE\u2019s offering, however, goes beyond printing. The company also provides technologies for lamination and coating, as well as a range of slitter-rewinders, extending its ability to support converters across several stages of the production process.<\/p>\n

The portfolio includes solventless lamination lines, coating systems<\/strong> and machines capable of integrating different coating and lamination processes. In converting, TCE also offers several slitter-rewinder <\/strong>configurations for materials including film, paper and aluminium.<\/p>\n

The decision also reflects the company\u2019s ambition to be closer to customers, converters and technology partners, building relationships that extend beyond machine supply to include technical support, development and application optimisation.<\/p>\n

Efficiency and sustainability<\/p>\n

The pursuit of production efficiency is naturally intertwined with sustainability. For TCE, reducing waste, optimising energy consumption and improving process efficiency means simultaneously enhancing machine competitiveness and reducing environmental impact.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The establishment of the Verona operation appears to mark an important step in TCE Printing\u2019s international development. What role does the Italian operation play today, and what objectives have you set for the European market over the coming years?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cFor us, Verona represents a long-term commitment to the European market. We want converters to have direct access to TCE and a closer relationship with the people behind their machines. Our engineering and manufacturing experience in Konya gives us a strong foundation, while our Italian operation helps us build that relationship locally.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Italy is particularly important because of its expertise in printing and converting. Being part of this environment creates opportunities to understand production requirements more closely and develop relationships with customers and technology partners. Over the coming years, our priority is to strengthen our European presence through reliable machines and dependable support. Installation, operator training and technical assistance are all part of that responsibility. A machine is a long-term investment for a converter, and we want our customers to feel confident about the company supporting it throughout its working life.<\/p>\n

How important is it today for a machinery manufacturer to be able to design not only an individual machine, but an integrated production process around the converter\u2019s specific needs? And to what extent is this approach becoming a distinguishing factor in your offering?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is essential. A machine has to fit the production environment in which it will work. Substrates, inks, job lengths, changeover frequency and downstream operations all influence the right configuration. We need to understand those requirements before deciding on the technical solution. For TCE, this is where our printing and converting experience comes together. Our portfolio covers flexographic printing, lamination, coating and slitting, alongside custom machinery. This allows us to consider how one stage affects the next and where a configuration needs to be adapted. In flexo printing, for example, ink behaviour, drying, web handling and register control all affect the final result. Improving one element without considering the others may leave the customer\u2019s main production problem unresolved. Our strength is the ability to translate these practical requirements into engineering decisions. The result we aim for is a process that operators can manage confidently, with consistent quality and fewer avoidable interruptions.<\/p>\n

Where are you currently focusing your main R&D investments: automation, intelligent process control, data management, energy efficiency, or new printing and converting technologies? And what results do you expect from these investments?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cOur main focus is on process control, automation and energy efficiency, with particular attention to water-based printing. These areas are closely connected, better control helps reduce waste, while effective drying is essential to achieving stable production with water-based inks. Our development work looks at the relationship between ink behaviour, substrate characteristics and drying performance. Optimising airflow and recirculation is part of this approach. The aim is to use energy effectively while maintaining the drying conditions required by the application. On the automation side, we focus on making production settings easier to manage and repeat. Functions such as job-recipe recall, monitoring and data exchange can help operators retrieve information and make informed adjustments. We see value in digitalisation when it makes a practical difference on the production floor. The results we are working towards are shorter setup times, less start-up waste and more consistent output. For us, the value of an R&D investment becomes clear when it improves the customer\u2019s daily production\u201d.<\/p>\n

Italian converters are particularly demanding when it comes to quality, productivity and service. Since entering the Italian market directly, what needs or expectations have you found most interesting, and how are these influencing the development of your offering?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I find most interesting is how closely quality, productivity and service are connected. A converter needs a machine to deliver the required print quality consistently, fit the available production space and remain straightforward to operate and maintain. Service is part of that investment decision from the beginning. For us, this makes usable performance a priority. Rated speed is one consideration, job-change time, access for cleaning and maintenance, and the ability to reproduce settings also affect what a converter can deliver during a working shift. These expectations guide our approach to machine configuration, operator access and automation. They also underline the importance of training and technical support, so that the customer can make effective use of the equipment after installation. We want to earn trust through the way our machines perform and the way we respond when support is needed.
