Custom Flexo<\/strong>, a startup based in Turin, has applied Additive Manufacturing<\/strong> for the first time to the production of flexographic plates for the packaging industry. The result is an 84% reduction in environmental impact compared to traditional methods, certified by an independent LCA study conducted by IMQ in accordance with European standards. The technology is entirely developed in Italy, featuring a patented process that reduces the use of chemicals, lowers costs and production times, and generates sustainability data that can be directly integrated into companies\u2019 ESG reports across the supply chain.<\/p>\n

Anna Olivieri, Managing Director and Advisor to Investors; Massimo Buriola, Head of Production at Custom Flexo; and Fabio Oliari, CEO of the Engineering Company and Head of Operations at Custom Flexo,<\/strong> presented the project during a press conference held on March 24 at the Action agency headquarters in Milan. Custom Flexo was born from diverse expertise united by a shared vision: to rethink how flexographic plates are designed, leveraging additive technology and a fully customer-oriented approach.<\/p>\n

Custom Flexo is redefining flexographic printing through the 3D printing of customized plates<\/strong>, eliminating solvents and waste while ensuring zero environmental impact production processes. This sustainable industrial model combines high precision, energy efficiency, and reduced consumption, transforming flexographic printing by merging production efficiency with environmental sustainability. These innovative plates eliminate material waste and remove the need for solvents or chemical baths, creating a shorter and less energy-intensive production chain. The company\u2019s proprietary patented technology overturns the traditional model with an additive process that builds layer by layer using only the necessary material, eliminating chemical washout and drastically reducing material and energy consumption.<\/p>\n
