After relocating in early 2014 to new headquarters at its main site in Krefeld-Uerdingen, Germany, the company already needs to expand production capacities again. Last 1 May 2023, Baumer hhs opened a second plant, just a stone\u2019s throw from its main location. The new building offers some 900 m2<\/sup> in added production and storage space to support future company growth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn recent years, we have introduced a number of pioneering innovations to the market, which packaging manufacturers had been waiting for. We originally had planned our headquarters to allow for generous expansion, but because of the strong demand for our solutions, now we need additional production and storage space. We are thrilled to have found it, close to our main site, in a new business district in Krefeld-Uerdingen\u201d<\/em>, explains plant manager Dr. Frauke von Knoop<\/strong>, head of Baumer hhs\u2019s three production sites in Krefeld-Uerdingen and Berlin.<\/p>\n

Folding carton and corrugated packaging manufacturers, as well as end-of-line equipment providers, have long appreciated the performance, flexibility and reliability of solutions from Baumer hhs, not to mention its willingness to respond to their individual needs. They also have been able to significantly improve the sustainability of their products and processes using recent groundbreaking innovations from Baumer hhs that cater to the megatrend in the industry towards resource-efficient packaging production.<\/p>\n

One example is the Baumer hhs Glue Save Mode<\/strong> (stitching mode), which makes it possible to switch a gluing process to precisely metered and applied dots or stitches of glue. Intermittent gluing of this kind reduces adhesive consumption by up to 60%, thereby also cutting CO2<\/sub> emissions.<\/strong> The revolutionary new CorrBox Solution for gluing corrugated packaging, and the Side Seam Gluing Solution for gluing folding carton side<\/strong> seams, are just two of the systems that can operate in stitching mode. The Side Seam Gluing Solution<\/strong> offers an added advantage: It eliminates cleaning of the glue disk units that previously had to be used in straight-line box production. Cleaning these units consumed at least 30 litres of warm water each time.<\/p>\n

Working with bio-based adhesives and low-temperature hot melts, or securing pallets in end-of-line packaging with pressure-sensitive adhesive instead of shrink-wrap, are just a few more examples of how solutions from Baumer hhs support sustainable packaging production. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Rethink, renew, recycle<\/strong> \u2013 rethinking adhesive application. That is the philosophy behind Baumer hhs\u2019s broad sustainability strategy. \u201cAlongside our efforts to continually improve the performance and flexibility of our gluing and quality assurance systems, our sustainability strategy has become a key factor of our dynamic growth and therefore of our need to expand capacities\u201d<\/em>, says Frauke von Knoop.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At its new plant, which is just three minutes on foot from headquarters, Baumer hhs has a high-bay warehouse with 500 pallet spaces, primarily for storing semi-finished goods and sub-assemblies. Like company headquarters, the attractive new site on Adolf Dembach Strasse in Krefeld-Uerdingen is also close to all forms of transportation<\/strong>. Highway 57 is just a short distance away.<\/p>\n

At its new site, Baumer hhs also has additional conference rooms for in-house meetings. They free up existing rooms at headquarters for meetings with customers from all over the world,<\/strong> who travel to Krefeld-Uerdingen to visit the 300 m2<\/sup> hhs solution center and work with company specialists to test innovative applications in industrial gluing and quality assurance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
