THANKS TO NEW AERODINAMICA, OFFICINE GRAFICHE RIUNITE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS RELATED TO REFILL SUCTION IN THEIR BO
New credentials for New Aerodinamica (www.newaerodinamica.com), which has already installed various plants for the graphics sector in South Italy, are represented by a new suction plant installed at Officine Grafiche Riunite (www.officinegrafiche.it).
This installation consists of a suction system based on different units: 3 trilateral groups and 1 paperback binding group Acoro 5 (www.mullermartini.it); all of them are aerated by a portable fan placed at a distance of about 80 m.
“The main problem was to find a proper and functional location for the equipment in the discharging section. In fact, only a surface of 30 m2 was available, but thanks to the use of 3D software, to the vast expertise of the designers and to the versatility of the equipment, we could find the right placement and even create some space for plant maintenance and control”, says Paolo Radaelli of New Aerodinamica.
The suction plant can suck on each point at the same time with excellent flow and its capacity is bigger than that required by manufacturers. This feature proves that these machines are not only suitable for a certain plant, but can always run well.
A linear aerodynamic separator has been installed in the discharging section. It just discharges the material, whereas air and powder are managed by a filtering unit equipped with a balance fan. The latter sucks the air out of the separator so that the refills can fall into the collecting section by means of gravity and without pressure. This is a key factor, thanks to which even the final section can remain clean.
The filtering unit has been gauged to filter the total air volume at a suitable speed, coping with the current regulations. Filtering sleeves (550gr/m2) have been installed, too. They carry out a special surface treatment ensuring that the emission rate will not exceed 1mg/m3. The powders being discharged out of the filter are collected and flattened by a special lifting system which conveys them directly into a bag, thus avoiding waste and downtimes.
“Last but not least, the mechanical installation was carried out in a short time by our experts. Thanks to their expertise, this final installation didn’t interfere with the usual activities of the customer who saw the whole suction plant growing quickly and running perfectly”, concludes Radaelli.
Today, Officine Grafiche Riunite is the most important company in Sicily, where they can perform the complete processing cycle (prepress, printing and setting up) for the local market and employ 60 people. All this is the result of the merger between two historical enterprises based in Palermo, which had been operating in the sector since the beginning of the 20th century.
The factory covers an area of 4.000 m2 and hosts 26 printing units (formats 35x50, 70x100 and 100x140). These machines process 92 quintals paper daily for over 750 customers with a turnover amounting to 6 million €.
“Also Sicily has been affected by the current economic crisis and here the consequences are above all the dangerous reduction of monetary liquidity, resulting in further price sinking. Market quotations are no longer dictated by the most efficient companies, but by the enterprises having big difficulties. Of course, the selection of the operators of the sector will go on, but it will also affect healthy companies. For this reason, we decided to re-organize our bookbinding department - where we have installed New Aerodinamica’s plant - since we believe that the recovery will be slow and still more competitive. In addition, we wanted to become stronger than our local competitors especially as regards the stage of the product’s life-cycle, which printers aren’t very interested in. The suction plant considerably improves the working condition of the operators and of the machines of the department, and we believe that we will be able to recover this investment within more or less four years. The new plant has considerable advantages in terms of safety and of reduction of powder emissions inside our factory shed. The installation was carried out in two days and a half without compromising the activity of the department and it immediately started running. We believe that the key for the plant efficiency is its accurate design along with a deep knowledge of the sector, which were not affected by space limitations. We didn’t know anything about the subject, but the technicians of New Aerodinamica suggested the best solutions to us and intervened promptly when we needed important regulations enabling the machine to run properly. The plant perfectly meet our expectations”, said Dr. Stefano Cosentino of Officine Grafiche Riunite.
